Our Story
The Calling of the Apostles Peter and Andrew,
Duccio di Buoninsegna, 1308-1311
The Monday Night Disciples (MND) is a Catholic men’s prayer group that began in 1985 in the home of Danny Abramowicz, a former New Orleans Saints football player. Danny was nudged by the Lord on several occasions during his prayer time in adoration to start a men’s prayer group in his house. Finding the courage to follow the Lord’s request, in May 1985 Danny began the MND with a group of 12 men.
The initial 12 men continued to meet in Danny’s home every 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. Word spread, and by the end of the third year his house could no longer accommodate the large numbers. The prayer group then moved to St. Francis Cabrini Parish whose pastor was one of the original members of the MND.
For over 30 years now the MND have been meeting at St. Clement of Rome Parish in Metairie, Louisiana. In May 2025 the MND celebrated their 40th anniversary. The prayer group still meets and is flourishing.
“St. Clement of Rome has graciously allowed us to meet here since the 1990's. We meet every Monday night in the Seton Room of the Parish Center. We not only pray and worship the Lord, but also have teachings and testimonies. There are also outside speakers to build up and support the spiritual life of each man and to assist in the efforts to reach out to others.
While the Monday night meetings remain the main focus of the group, we have expanded our service to others with volunteer programs such as All God's Babies, which builds free caskets for babies who die under two years of age, and All God’s Children, which builds swings for special needs children. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE AN EXPERIENCED CARPENTER. NO PREVIOUS SKILLS REQUIRED; TRAINING AND SAFETY CLASSES ARE REQUIRED.
We also provide support to the Archdiocese for men's spirituality events and prayer vigils in support of pro-life. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our values and making space for thoughtful, lasting work.
We welcome any new members and would be honored to have you come and experience the brotherhood we have had over the years.”
Danny Abramowicz
“And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
Matthew 25:40
